How to set up 2FA (two-factor) as a user

This description refers to additional functionality that must be activated explicitly in Complete Control Backoffice. Your single point of contact at House of Control AS can help you with this.

Where you set up the authenticator app depends on whether you already use two-factor authentication (2FA) in Complete Control:

  • Your company has turned on 2FA, and you haven't set it up yet: you set up the app the next time you log in.

  • You already use 2FA, for example with SMS: you add the app in your personal settings.

Tip!
If you are unsure which app to use, ask your system administrator for Complete Control.

Install an authenticator app on your phone, for example Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator.

  1. Log in to Complete Control with your user name and password.

    The Set up two-factor verification screen appears.

  2. Click Authenticator app. A QR code appears.

  3. On your phone, open the authenticator app, add a new account, and scan the QR code.

    The app shows a 6-digit code for Complete Control.

    Or: Click Can't scan the code?, then add an account in the app and enter the key shown.

    Note: Scan the QR code from inside the authenticator app. Your phone's camera app can't add Complete Control to the authenticator app.

  4. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows, then click Verify and continue.

The authenticator app is set up. From now on, you log in with a code from the app.

  1. Click your profile icon (your initials at the top right), then click Settings.

  2. Under Two-factor authentication, click Add two-factor method.

  3. Click Authenticator app. A QR code appears.

  4. On your phone, open the authenticator app, add a new account, and scan the QR code.

    The app shows a 6-digit code for Complete Control.

    Note: Scan the QR code from inside the authenticator app. Your phone's camera app can't add Complete Control to the authenticator app.

  5. Optional: In Name (optional), enter a name for the app, for example My phone.

  6. In Code from the app, enter the 6-digit code the app shows for Complete Control.

The authenticator app appears in the Two-factor authentication list. From now on, you can log in with a code from the app.

The next time you log in, open the authenticator app, find Complete Control, and enter the code it shows. Then click Verify code.

You can also use 2FA with SMS. When you log in, click Text message (SMS) instead of Authenticator app, and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you already use 2FA with an authenticator app, follow steps 1 and 2 under How to add the app if you already use 2FA, and click Phone (SMS). Then follow the instructions on the screen.
