Asset system settings for categories
Path in CC5: System settings - Assets - Categories
If no other input is provided prior to configuring the database, the system is delivered with some general asset categories that can be edited later on. Examples of categories are the group "IT equipment" with the subcategories "Laptop"/"Mobile"/"Server" or the group "Transport" with the subcategories "Company car"/"Passenger car"/"Lorry". This can be adapted as required.
Tip!
Via the categories, you can also pre-define depreciation and more for assets. See How to define depreciation and more for assets.
New group: Creates a new group as main element in the structure. This group will be a tab in the overview list. All records within the categories below will be displayed below this tab.
New category: Creates a new category under a group. When selecting New category next to an existing category group, the selected group will be added automatically as the superior category. But this can be changed.
Template for fields: You can select a standard template for all new entries in this group. The template is fetched automatically when creating a new entry from the group tab in the overview list.
Edit: Changes an existing group or category.
Delete: Deletes a group or category. If there are records linked to a category, these must be moved before you can delete the category. The number of linked records are displayed in the overview list. A group can only be deleted once all underlying categories have been deleted.
Groups and categories can also be imported and exported via Excel import and export.
