How to switch to a new index

This description refers to functionality that is not yet available for all customers. Talk to your contact person at House of Control AS if you're interested and want it to be activated in your system.

You can switch from an outdated index to an updated index.

Important!
This should be done when an old index is discontinued. We therefore recommend switching to the new index on the first day after the old index has been discontinued. In many cases, this will mean January 1, 11 years after the old reference index. The old index must then be stopped the day before.

Step 1 describes how to enable the new index. Step 2 provides detailed instructions on how to stop the old index and activate the new one.

Step 1: Activate the index with the new base year

  1. Go to System Settings - Price Indices.
  2. Find the index with the new base year.
  3. Click Edit next to the index, and select Available.
  4. Click Save.

The new index is now available and can be used.

Step 2: Switch from the old index to the new index

You must now end the old index and activate the new index in the agreement's payment plan.

End the old index

  1. Find the relevant payment plan in the agreement and click Edit.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the payment plan, where you will find Adjustments.
  3. Next to the existing index adjustment, click Edit. A new window opens where you can end the index.
  4. In the Until field, enter the date on which you want the index to end.
  5. Make a note of the values in the following fields:
    • Interval
    • Index base period
    • Use index value from
  6. Click OK.

The old index has now been ended. Do not close the payment plan. You will now activate the new index.

Activate the new index

  1. Click Add scheduled adjustment at the bottom left of the payment plan. A new window opens where you can add the new index.
  2. Under Adjustment type, select Index adjustment.
  3. The start date for the adjustment should be the day after the existing index adjustment ends.
  4. Select the same Interval as for the existing index adjustment.

    Tip:
Use the values you noted in step 5 above.

  1. Under Base period, select the year that is two years before the start date. For example, if the start date of the new index adjustment is 01/01/2026, select 2024.
  2. Select the same month as for the original index adjustment.
  3. Do the same for the Use index value from field.
  4. Click OK.

The new index has now been added and will take effect when the old index ends.

You can close the payment plan by clicking OK.
